Keep firing on all cylinders
For such a small part, the humble spark plug plays a huge role in making sure your Toyota’s engine operates properly. Not only does it have to properly ignite the compressed mixture of fuel and air to give your engine power, it has to be able to do it up to 60 times a second, and last thousands of kilometers.
The plugs themselves are subjected to extremely high temperatures – anywhere from 400 to 900°C – and extreme pressure. Over use, the tip of the electrode that creates the spark begins to erode which affects the plug’s performance.
Once the spark plug’s performance starts to deteriorate, it can result in difficulty starting the engine. It also causes a reduction in engine power and fuel-efficiency due to the mixture of air and fuel not combusting properly.
Your Toyota’s spark plugs should be inspected and replaced according to the recommended schedule in your Owner’s Manual.
Make sure your Toyota is firing on Genuine Toyota Spark Plugs – they’re designed for long life and to maintain maximum engine efficiency.
