Tires - stay in the groove
With the incredible variety of terrain and weather we have here in BC, tire health is paramount for safe, comfortable driving - whether you’re slowly navigating that logging road down to the lake, or flying across the Coquahalla.
But it’s not just about safety and comfort. Taking care of your tires prolongs their life, and helps with fuel-efficiency. And that means money in your pocket.
Here’s an easy way to remember the four pillars of tire care – just do your PART. PART* is an acronym for Pressure, Alignment, Rotation & Tread. Here’s how it works.
PRESSURE Under inflation results in unnecessary tire stress, irregular wear, and loss of control. (It also reduces fuel-efficiency!) Tires can lose up to half their pressure and not appear to be flat, so check their pressure once a month. Remember to test them cold for an accurate reading.
ALIGNMENT A bad jolt from hitting a curb or pothole can throw your front end out of alignment and damage your tires. Have your ToyotaBC Dealer check the alignment periodically to ensure that your car is properly aligned.
ROTATION Regularly rotating your vehicle's tires will help you achieve more uniform wear and extend their life. Check your Owner’s Manual for recommended tire inspection/rotation intervals.
TREAD Advanced and unusual wear can reduce the ability of tread to grip the road in adverse conditions, so visually check your tires for signs of uneven wear. You may have irregular tread wear if there are high and low areas or unusually smooth areas.
Remember, Toyota BC Dealers aren’t just Toyota experts, we’re tire experts too. We’ll make sure your vehicle’s rolling on the right set of tires, installed by technicians who know your Toyota best.
See your local Toyota BC Dealer to have your tires inspected and rotated on a regular basis.
